This is a guide on tearing down Nintendo's greatest console of all time. I swear I'm not taking any copium, I don't even know where to get that stuff.

What You'll Need

  • A Wii U, for starters
  • A screwdriver, or screwdriver bits, that consist of PH00, PH0, and Y0.
  • A craft knife or something sharp and thin.

Teardown

  1. Use the craft knife (or whatever sharp tool you have) to get under and lift up the pads covering the screws on the Wii U shell.
  2. Remove these PH00 screws (3):
  3. Pull back the side plastic piece:
  4. Remove these Y0 screws (6):
  5. Remove the RTC battery and these two PH00 screws (3, but only 2 can be separated from plastic):
  6. Pull up on the top shell starting from the back of the console. You need it to be at an angle in order to remove it. To keep the rubber nubs and fan guard in place, put your fingers in those positions (or whatever feels comfortable for you):
  7. Remove these screws from either side of the front panel (2):
  8. Remove these screws that secure the system to the bottom shell. The system should come right off the shell after:
